V Festival

V Festival, is back for its thirteenth year and as always has got a cracking line-up! Be sure to book out your diaries and start planning for the greatest summer ever. The biggest and best festival of the year taking place on 16th & 17th August 2008 at Weston Park, Staffordshire is on it’s way! Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday 7th March.
This year over 100 of the hottest acts will belt out tunes across five stages. A host of established acts along with more than a smattering of the industry’s hottest hopes for the future will entertain us over the weekend. Headliners Muse and the The Verve, live supremos Kings of Leon and Stereophonics and other favourites as well as future Brit icons such as Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy, and The Kooks will be appearing over the weekend.

Coldplay

The four-piece, who last played the Arena in December 2005, return this winter to perform tracks from their eagerly awaited fourth album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends.
The band's debut album, Parachutes, was released in 2000 to worldwide critical acclaim and their 2002 follow-up, A Rush of Blood to the Head, was named NME's Album of the Year.
Since their beginnings in 1997, Coldplay have sold over 20million albums worldwide and notched up a string of hit singles including Clocks, In My Place, Speed of Sound, Fix You and the breakthrough hit Yellow. The new album, produced by Brian Eno, is released on June 12 and features the new single Violet Hill.

Amir Khan & Alex Arthur

British boxing stars Amir Khan and AlexArthur will both feature at the M.E.N Arena on Sat 6 September in a blockbuster Frank Warren promoted show. Bolton hot-shot Khan won a thrilling five-round shoot-out against rival Michael Gomez to retain his Commonwealth Lightweight title at the end of June. Khan, 21, dropped Gomez in the first but was then floored himself in the second before he stopped the brave Mancunian in the fifth round. Khan's opponent will be announced in due course.
All-action Arthur, the WBO World Super-Featherweight Champion, makes the second defence of his title against a challenger to be announced. Edinburgh star Arthur, 29, won the Interim title against Koba Gogoladze in July last year and made one defence against Stephen Foster Junior last December before he was installed as full champion. This will be the first time that Arthur and Khan have fought at the M.E.N Arena that has hosted some of the biggest names and greatest fights in British boxing.

Stevie Wonder

The legendary singer-songwriter will perform songs from his groundbreaking back catalogue including Superstition, You Are The Sunshine of My Life, Living for the City and the 1984 classic I Just Called to Say I Love You. From Motown prodigy to groundbreaking innovator, Stevie Wonder's amazing career has earned him 49 top 40 singles, 32 number one singles plus an Academy Award for I Just Called to Say I Love You. In 1989 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a year later become the youngest honouree of the prestigious Kennedy Centre. Speaking ahead of his Manchester show, Stevie said: "Thank you can never be said enough. This tour is a celebration of life, music and thank you's".
